Five Ways to Wear the Velvet Trend This Fall

The Boot

The biggest velvet trend of the moment is the boot. Hands down. While you might recognize the platform version from every street style photo ever (see above), designers aren’t leaving it at that. Over the knee velvet boots are on the market and even Chloe has made a velvet iteration of its iconic studded Susanna.

Burnout Velvet

If you like the idea of velvet but don’t want to go all in (it’s a lot of look, we hear you), burnout velvet pieces are here for you. Not to mention, for those who love a good print, what more could you ask for than a print and texture all in one piece?

The Suit

Probably our favorite way to rock the trend, the velvet suit is the head-to-toe epitome of everything we love about the look. There’s nothing more festive than a black velvet suit, but we also love the more saturated jewel tones and are even crushing on this blush crushed set.

The Sweatshirt

Velvet has a tendency to lean more ladylike than other fabrics, so you might be turned off if you’re a more casual girl deep down. But don’t let its dressiness deter you. Instead, set it off by sporting a traditionally casual garment, like the sweatshirt, made of the piled fabric.

The Dress

Of course, the easiest way to adopt the trend is to jump in head first. And what better way to do that than to rock a velvet dress.  Think your childhood holiday parties only longer, more saturated and way chicer.
