Looking for something to do this Spring/Summer? The Dallas Museum of Art is hosting a touring exhibit organized by the Smithsonian of the work of Irving Penn, one of the best-known American photographers of the 20th century. You know those images of subjects against simple white or grey backdrops that seem standard fare these days? Yeah, you can thank Penn for that.

Irving Penn: Beyond Beauty runs from April 15, 2016 to August 14, 2016 (perfect timing for those hot summer days when you are looking for something to do inside) and includes 140 photographs capturing everything from fashion photos that appeared in Vogue, to images of the American South in the 1940s, celebrity portraits, still lifes and private studio images.  The exhibit is the first retrospective of his 70-year career in nearly two decades.  Needless to say, it is a bit of a must-see while it is here in the metroplex.  So don’t miss it.
