It’s National Tequila Day, Here’s What to Make

Today is officially National Tequila Day. And in celebration, may your drinks be margaritas and may they be filled with Casa Dragones!

Just in case you don’t already have your drink menu for this evenings celebrations planned out, the bar at the Casa Dragones Tasting Room in San Miguel de Allende has you covered. Both created with Casa Dragones Blanco, here are two of our favorite recipes fit for any summer celebration.

Cocktail Name: Coa
Bartender: Raúl Torrecilla
Bar: Corazón de Alcachofa in Guadalajara, Mexico
Description: From his residency at Casa Dragones Tasting Room in San Miguel de Allende, bartender Raúl Torrecilla of Corazón de Alcachofa in Guadalajara, Mexico, creates the Coa signature craft cocktail.

Inspired by the jimadors who use a coa to harvest our agave, Torecilla chose a blend of strong herbal flavors, including Chartreuse, Vermouth and Campari, to marry with the herbaceous, complex notes of agave found in Casa Dragones Blanco. The grapefruit peel delivers fresh citrus notes, for a fresh, dry cocktail that can be enjoyed year-round.

Recipe
2 oz. Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco
0.8oz. Vermouth
0.8 oz. Campari
1 bar spoon agave syrup
dash of Green Chartreuse
Chill a coupe glass and add dash of Green Chartreuse. Add all the ingredients to a mixing glass and strain. Garnish with grapefruit peel.

Cocktail Name: Silver Needles
Bartender: Raúl Torrecilla
Bar: Corazón de Alcachofa in Guadalajara, Mexico
Description: From behind the bar at Casa Dragones Tasting Room, Raúl Torrecilla of Corazón de Alcachofa in Guadalajara, Mexico creates a full-bodied cocktail called Silver Needles, with Casa Dragones Blanco.

Torrecilla crafted the signature cocktail especially to serve to VIP guests during his bartender residency.Making his own shrub with chamomile and green pepper, Torrecilla compliments the beautiful green notes found in Casa Dragones Blanco, while adding egg white for a full, velvety body.The cocktail is garnished with thyme and pink pepper for an added aromatic kick.

Recipe
2 oz. Tequila Casa Dragones Blanco
0.5 oz. Homemade shrub made with green pepper, chamomile, and apple vinegar
0.5 oz. Fresh lemon juice
0.3 oz. Agave syrup
0.3 oz. Egg white
1 Dash Strega liqueur
Combine all ingredients on ice and shake vigorously. Strain over a coupe glass. Add the dash Strega liqueur and garnish with thyme and pink pepper.
